It's Paris, Paris, Paris, this tour, this time around. We're going to visit some lesser known corners of the city, those off-the-beaten-track sights, less visited by tourists who, poor souls, have only a short time in Paris. We have booked rooms in a hotel new to us and we're moving from the Right Bank to the Left Bank. We will have a new neighborhood to settle into and explore. Our location is a short walk to the Champs de Mars and the base of the Eiffel Tower.
A big draw to this neighborhood in the 7th arrondissement in the local market on the pedestrian street, Rue Cler. This bustling market street (Tuesdays through Sunday mornings) features fruit and vegetables at Halles Bosquet, wine at Bacchus, cheese at the "fromagerie", fish at the "poissonerie", patés and other prepared foods at the "charcuterie" and of course bread at the "boulangerie".
In addition you can taste a variety of olive oils at Oliviers & Cie, buy gourmet treats at the "epicerie" and chocolate at and sit down at a café, snack on a crepe or dine in one of the restaurants.
